Newsletter Committee Minutes (Tuesday, 02/03/15, 6:30PM, Vint)

Present: John Baker, Jim Brauner, Anne Walker

  1. Spring Issue (Deadline - Friday, 02/27/15)
    1. Articles/Features: “Clifton Critters”; Cassandra will write up a profile on the Membership Committee; John will put together “Committee Doin’s”; John will write up 04/08/15 public meeting (Mike O’Leary to co-chair).
    2. APH, Clifton Center, FABA, LFPL, UCHM events (John will send out emails)
    3. Renewal invoices have been prepared.
  1. Distribution will be 3,000.
  2. Newsletter Routes: All routes covered.

Minutes (Wednesday, 10/08/14, 6:30PM, Vint)

Present: John Baker, Jim Brauner, Jackie Read, Anne Walker

  1. Winter Issue (Deadline - Friday, 10/31/14)
  1. Anne will revise back page.
    1. Articles: Jackie will do a “Clifton Critters”; Jackie will write up a profile on the Membership Committee; John will put together “Committee Doin’s”; John will write up 10/11 parking meeting.
    2. APH, Clifton Center, FABA, LFPL, UCHM events (John will send out emails).
    3. Jackie will put together proposal for Council’s participation in the Olde Tyme Xman on Saturday, 12/06 parade.
  1. Distribution will be 3,200.

John will check with Brad about ad sales and FABA representation.

  1. Jackie will work with Jim on Posters for the 2015 Egg Hunt.

Newsletter Committee Minutes (Tuesday, 07/22/14, 6:30PM, Vint)

Present: John Baker, David Coyte, Ted Lesley, Jackie Read, Anne Walker

  1. Fall Issue (Deadline - Friday, 08/15/14)
    1. Articles: Send your “Ask Cliff” questions to Ted. John will verify Clifton UU’s Sustainability Fair on Friday, 09/26; David will write a piece on the LUP Committee Council and the disability awareness presentation for the September 17 membership meeting; Anne will kick off “Clifton Critters” with a pic and tale about the black rabbit; John will follow-up with Cassandra about the safe passages brochure.
    2. APH, Clifton Center, FABA, LFPL, UCHM events (John will send out emails).
    3. Jackie is exploring a Halloween dog parade and will touch base with Jim Brauner.
  1. Website: Needs a lot of work. John with coordinate with Jackie and the web guy to discuss.
  1. Jackie agreed to be the distributor reminder. John will provide info.
  1. Jackie will explore feasibility of UCHM’s youth program doing a kid’s corner type of feature.
  1. Newsletter Routes: Crescent Springs and South Clifton (John will check with Joey about CC church doing). Frankfort Ave.
  1. Logo discussion put on hold.

Newsletter Committee Minutes (Tuesday, 04/22/14, 6:30PM, Vint)

Present: John Baker, Anne Walker

  1. Website: Anne presented three logo designs for review.
  1. Summer Issue (Deadline - Friday, 05/16/14)
    1. Council reporting: Annual membership meeting (Wednesday, 06/18, 7:00PM) at the Clifton Center to approve of by-laws changes and election of board, Committee Doings, Clifton Corner (Katy will focus on the work at Bingham Park), “Giving Circle” article (Katy), 4th of July at P-D, and “Ask Cliff”.
    2. APH, Clifton Center, FABA, LFPL, UCHM events.
  1. Advertising: $828.00 to date. Renewal invoices to be sent out in early May. Distribution: 3,000 for routes, mailing, and extras. John will pitch Walgreen’s, Kroger, and Brownsboro Hills nursing home.
  1. Newsletter Routes: Frankfort Ave. from Ewing to RR is open.
  1. Future issues:
    1. How can we make the website and Quarterly more effective in encouraging participation? Website (John & Anne will put a “splash” together.
    2. Fall: Get out the vote.
    3. What are the options to recognize the Quarterly Distributors? Consensus to shout out at membership meetings. Chair will mention in CQ.
  1. Distribution: 3,000 for routes, mailing, and extras.
  1. Future issues and upcoming events.

  1. Website: Thanks to Katy for setting up membership at cliftonlouky.org.
  1. Spring Issue (Deadline - Friday, 03/14/14)
    1. Feature: “Egg Hunt & Parade”: Jim will check with Anne about anniversary year.
    2. Council reporting: Spring membership meeting (Sunday, 04/27, 1:00PM) at the Clifton Center, approval of by-laws, Committee Doings, Clifton Corner (Katy will focus on the work at Bingham Park), Upcoming Board elections, and “Ask Cliff” (need questions).
    3. APH, Clifton Center, LFPL, UCHM events.
  1. Advertising: $684.00 to date. Renewal invoices sent out. Distribution: 3,000 for routes, mailing, and extras.

 

  1. Katy is now doing the monthly Enews – looks great! March 19th candidates’ forum will need to go in.

    3. The Golden Nuggets line dancing troupe. (John Ba & John Be)
    4. Annual membership meeting. Elections, KIPDA transportation presentation, presentation. We should have snacks and door prizes.
    5. Section for “Committee Doings”. (Committee Chairs)
    6. Clifton Corner and Homeless Camp article. (Katy E.)
  1. Advertising ($944 confirmed for Spring)
    1. Sacred Heart may have ad and $288 in unconfimred renewals have been sent out.
    2. No word on First Capital Bank ad. No word on Grasshoppers, Comfy Cow, Pie Kitchen.
    3. Board approved a business card ad for Andrei in exchange for sending out the Clifton Enews.
  1. Distribution: 3,200. All routes are covered.

Minutes, 01/29/13, 6:30PM, Vint

Present: John Baker, Jim Brauner, David Coyte, Katy Elliott, Anne Walker

  1. Website
    1. Anne will sort out the newsletters on the website. Consensus to defer upgrading site to “premium”. Board had approved $120 in November, 2011 for a year upgrade.
  1. 2013 Issues (all issues should contain content on what the CCC is doing).
    1. Spring – shorter shelf life – focus on Egg Hunt and parade.
    2. Summer – longer shelf life – focus on “features” and elections.
    3. Fall – shorter shelf life – focus on features.
    4. Winter – longer shelf life – Old Tyme Xmas.
  1. Production: Anne Walker agreed to handle the following Editor tasks.
    1. Editor list i. Copy & Ads to www.cliftonquarterly@gmail.com, Advertising to provide list of ads & whether “new or old, Number of pages in accordance with ad revenue and Select & work with printer
    1. Katy and Anne will collaborate on publicity for the Clifton Community Café on Monday, 04/08/13. John will confer with Laurie on features.
  1. Advertising ($684 confirmed for Spring): John Baker agreed to follow-up with current advertisers for renewing and send out invoices for all new ads.
    1. Number of pages and run is determined by ad revenue and shelf life of issue.
    2. Jim has sold three business card ads & $144 each. John will invoice. David will contact Tommy Thomas for a First Capital Bank ad. Katy suggested Grasshoppers and will follow-up. Anne to follow-up with Comfy Cow and Jim will follow-up with Pie Kitchen.
    3. Committee recommends Board approve a business card ad for Andrei in exchange for sending out the Clifton Enews.
  1. Distribution: David Coyte. (3,000 for routes, 200 extras in Spring & Fall and 500 extras for Summer & Winter, 3,200 and 3,500 respectively). David will check on status of open routes and recruit carriers. Katy will make a Payne Street contact. John will contact Maryhurst Group home for their involvement in distribution.
  1. Adjourned: 7:30PM. Next meeting Tuesday, April 16th at 6:30PM at Vint.
